Position: technical director / lead artist
Tasks: look dev, pipeline, modeling, layout, shading, lighting, compositing
This 10 episodes TV series, produced by New Pictures and directed by Factory Fifteen, was broadcasted on the BBC in march 2025.
I was in charge of designing a pipeline setup that would allow the smooth production of more than 100 full cg shots.
We decided to adopt the use of Blender for the scene assembling and the rendering steps of most of the full cg shots.
I helped with the research and development of the different visual styles across the episodes – the comic style, the shadow puppet style and the video game style.
I also took part in the production of some 3d environments, as well as the compositing of the full cg shots.
COMIC BOOK STYLE
Here are some sequences showcasing the main characters performing in their preferred sports.
We used a comic book style, made of vivid pencil hues, hatching shadows, halftone highlights and outlines.
We also used the comic book style to soften some delicate moments of the show.

SHADOW PUPPETS STYLE
This retro lit paper cut style helps telling the story of more adults moments to a younger audience.
TRADITIONAL VFX SHOTS
We also produced some more traditional vfx shots, involving tracking and compositing over a plate.
